Big Apple Greeter is celebrating 30 years of welcoming visitors to New York. Over the last 30 years, more than 2,500 volunteer Greeters have taken more than 170,000 visitors to every corner of the five boroughs, giving them insights into the lives of “real” New Yorkers and showing off the hidden treasures that help make New York the greatest city in the world.

It’s no secret that the COVID-19 pandemic hit New York City hard. The road back will surely be challenging. But we’ve been here before: Big Apple Greeter was founded in part to encourage people to come and explore the city at a time when New York City was widely seen as a dangerous and scary place to travel. But by 2019, with all of your help and support, New York City was setting record tourism numbers as Greeters welcomed thousands of visitors every year.

Today, Big Apple Greeter is spreading the word that New York City is open for business and as great a place to visit as ever. Every week brings an increased number of requests for Greets. With your continued commitment and support, we’ll be here for another 30 years, letting the world know that the heart of New York City beats as strongly as ever. For more information visit here.
