The monarch butterfly migratory journey is almost 2,000 miles from the United States to the mountains of Mexico. Thousands of them stop in Cape May, New Jersey, every year in September and October.

The Cape May Bird Observatory is a leader in Monarch migration research. Their Monarch Monitoring Project focuses on the fall migration along the Atlantic coast.

The New Jersey Audubon will host a free Tagging, a way of associating the location of original capture with the point of recovery for each butterfly, Demo on October 1, 2021, from 2 -2:45 PM. More information is here.
