Peak fall foliage in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia is expected around the end of October. Along the Blue Ridge Parkway, Virginia’s Blue Ridge is one of the most majestic areas in the country to enjoy incredible fall foliage and breathtaking scenery. 

The Blue Ridge Parkway, known as “America’s Favorite Drive”, is only a 10-minute drive from Downtown Roanoke and is consistently named one of the best places to view striking fall colors. With marvelous vistas that showcase the rich beauty of Mother Nature, The Parkway makes its way through the heart of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains and offers some of the most vibrant fall colors, with eight different entry points to this world-famous road. Many scenic overlooks and places to stop along the way for exploring and enjoying long and short hikes for all fitness levels enhance the ideal autumn experience.  

Also new for Fall 2022, there will now be enhanced offerings to alleviate parking at McAfee Knob, known as the most-photographed overlook on the Appalachian Trail.  The shuttle will depart from I-81 Exit 140 Park and Rideand will be offered Friday – Sunday and holiday Mondays through November, resuming service in March.  https://mcafeeshuttle.com/
