Rail Europe is expanding the two iconic Swiss panoramic trains – Glacier Express & Bernina Express. Bookings are now available on its website and app.

The Glacier Express, the “slowest fast train in the world”, connects Zermatt to St. Moritz and winds its way through remote valleys, past sheer rock faces, idyllic mountain villages, over the Landwasser Viaduct, through the Rhine Gorge, the Grand Canyon of Switzerland, and the actual glacier Jungfrau of course. The train scales the highest point of its journey at the Oberalp Pass, located 2033 meters above sea level. Thanks to its large panoramic windows, the train provides a clear view of numerous summits, deep gorges and the UNESCO World Heritage sites “Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch” and “Rhaetian Railway in the Albula/Bernina Landscapes”.

High up to the glacial glitter of the mountains, deep down to the palm tree paradise of Italy: the Bernina Express, the highest railway line across the Alps, connects northern Europe with the south. And it does so via a railway line in perfect harmony with its glorious mountain setting. The Bernina Express covers over 122 kilometers through 55 tunnels, 196 bridges and viaducts up to 65m high, including the famous Brusio spiral viaduct. The track between Thusis and Tirano has been part of UNESCO World Heritage since 2008.  Each year, over 400 000 people travel via the Glacier Express and Bernina Express on average. Rail Europe’s expansion of its product portfolio with these popular panoramic train rides reinforces its position as a premium partner providing travellers with the largest rail distribution system.
