Manhattan Project scientists considered La Fonda on the Plaza their “home away from the Hill,” retreating often to the Santa Fe landmark hotel to dine, drink, dance and decompress.
Now, La Fonda opens another chapter in its history as the site of this year’s “Spies, Lies and Nukes” conference hosted by former Covert CIA Ops Officer Valerie Plame Nov. 10 – 12. The event is open to the public.
At this third, enhanced running of Spies, Lies & Nukes, Plame and some of her legendary, highly decorated, and experienced CIA colleagues will pull back the curtain on the real life “wilderness of mirrors” that is international espionage.
Attendees can hear from and engage with the best of CIA’s spies to better understand today’s world: from emergent threats, to never-before-told spy operations, black market nuclear scams, how to recruit a spy, the growth of domestic terrorism, how social media is used in espionage, and keeping employees and companies safe from foreign spies. A full list of speakers and topics can be found here.
Tickets (available here) are $1300 through Nov.2 and $1500 Nov. 3 – 10, and include breakfasts, lunches, a VIP reception and all programs and activities. Hotel accommodations are not included but attendees receive a special room rate of $199 per night by booking here or calling La Fonda directly at (800)523-5002 and using the group code 1074269 or mentioning “Spies, Lies and Nukes.” Reservations must be made by Monday, October 3 to receive the special rate.
