Spring kicks into high gear in Southern West Virginia with blooming wildflowers, zip lining, hiking, white water rafting and epic events atop Wonderland Mountain at ACE Adventure Resort.
The recently minted National Park, The New River Gorge, is known for its outdoor activities, sweeping vistas and scenic beauty. Celebrate a regional delicacy and the start of Spring in the mountains at the 3rd Annual Ramp It Up! Ramp Festival on May 7 at The Lost Paddle Bar and Grill with Ramp Hunting 101, guest chef Jason Nerenberg from Hawk Knob Hard Cider, and live music from the Hillbilly Gypsies.
May 13-15 is the second annual New River Gorge Festival featuring outdoor fun, adventure films, camping, exciting vendors and live music from The MFB, Rumpke Mountain Boys,18 Strings and Abby Bryant & The Echoes.
The iconic Mountain Music Festival celebrates its 8th year from June 2-4. Thirty bands will perform on the mountaintop stage, taking over the resort with tasty food, creative vendors, mind blowing visual artists, fun workshops, incredible camping and more.
A weekend of female power comes to the mountainside for the Gritty Chix Mud Run on June 18, which was voted the #1 Mud Run/Adventure Race in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic in the 2020 Best of the Blue Ridge Readers’ Choice Awards. Participants can choose the 5K Tenacious Trail or the Moxie Mile with mud obstacles along the way and fun throughout.
