We love finding new travel gear that solves a need.
Take The Foldie. It’s a packable, expandable travel tote ($79) that folds into a small square that can fit in your suitcase in case (like me) you need an extra bag on your return. There’s also The Foldie Crossbody ($49) I’m a fan of crossbodies for travel because you can protect yourself from pickpockets. There are inside pockets with RFID protection for your cards and a small lock to slip the zipper through, adding an extra layer of protection. It’s also a good bet if you want to slip a small bag into your tote for travel, making it easier to reach your phone or a card in route.
The Foldie tote is great for travel with lots of packing space—enough for a weekend getaway and 25 per cent more packing space with the expandable bottom. I also like that it weighs just a little over a pound and is made with water and tear-resistant fabric. It’s got sleeves to attach to your rolling suitcase, a detachable crossbody strap, a water bottle sleeve, and interlock able zippers. And both come in a variety of colors.
Another good bet is the Lorman Sling Backpack from Vera Bradley in ripstop polyester in a variety of colors. It’s small (6.5” wide x 11” high . There’s a back pocket for a phone and a main compartment with a zip pocket. It would easily fit in your travel tote or use as a crossbody when you are on the go. The fabric is lightweight, durable, easy to clean and water repellent.
If you are looking for a roller bag that won’t take up much room when unpacked, consider Rollink – Flex 360 Spinner ($249; $299 for the medium checked bag and $349 for the large checked one) . I like the double spinner wheels, the multiple pockets, that it’s lightweight (6 pounds for the carry one) and the scratch and water resistant polycarbonate hard shell. It also will fit carry on requirements for most airlines. There is a TSA-approved lock, interior pockets to help keep you organized and cross-straps divider and when you get home, it folds to just 5 inches thick.
Any would make a good addition to your travel gear—or a gift.
