Get Lost In The Fun At This North Carolina Pumpkin Patch With An Enormous Corn Maze

Somebody uses GPS to plant a brand-new maze every single year in a 10.5-acre cornfield. That alone made me sit up.

The maze is billed as one of the largest in the Triad region of North Carolina. Inside, you’ll find scavenger hunt stations, a bee game, and even a crime-solving mystery hidden in the stalks.

Then there’s everything outside the corn. A one-third-scale train with a caboose circles the whole maze, and a 200-foot tube slide lets you race your family to the bottom.

I appreciate that most of the fun comes bundled with one wristband.

Add apple cider donuts, two dozen fudge flavors, and thousands of pumpkins waiting for a new porch. I can’t think of a better way to spend a crisp fall weekend.

So how long would it take you to find the exit?

Ten and a half acres of corn is a lot of corn. At Kersey Valley Maize Adventure, all of it gets turned into one giant puzzle that ranks among the biggest corn mazes in the Triad.

The best part is that the maze never stays the same. A new design gets planted every year with the help of GPS technology, so last season’s shortcuts won’t save you.

That modern planting method allows for more detailed designs than old-school guesswork ever could. It also means returning families get a fresh challenge each fall instead of a repeat performance.

The roots here run deep, too. The farm’s fall fun traces its history back to 1985, which means this tradition has been confusing happy visitors for well over 35 years.

My advice is simple. Grab the map at the start, pick a navigator you trust, and agree on a meeting spot before anyone wanders off.

Comfortable shoes are a smart move, since the paths are long and the farm covers plenty of ground. Getting lost is half the fun, but knowing roughly where you are keeps the fun from turning into a search party.

Wandering aimlessly is fine, but solving a mystery is better. The maze includes an interactive game called Farm Scene Investigation, a whodunit-style challenge played right among the stalks.

Clue hunters get extra help from a scavenger hunt card and a map. Six stations are scattered throughout the maze, giving kids a reason to keep pushing forward instead of asking how much longer.

Then there’s the Bee Waggle Game, which might be the most charming idea on the whole farm. It’s an interactive bee education experience, so everyone sneaks in a little science between the twists and dead ends.

I love that the maze has a purpose beyond the exit. Kids who normally lose interest after ten minutes suddenly have a case to crack and stamps to collect.

Four-legged family members don’t have to stay home, either. Well-behaved dogs on a leash are welcome in the corn maze, and doggie watering stations wait on the Midway afterward.

So who gets to be lead detective in your group? Settle that debate in the parking lot, because things can get competitive once the first clue turns up.

All Aboard A Little Train With A Big Personality

Eight cars, one caboose, and room for 104 passengers. The Kersey Valley Express Train runs at one-third scale, which makes it small enough to feel cute and big enough to haul the whole crew.

Its route is half the charm. Riders roll through the Wild West and Ghost Towns while the train circles the entire corn maze.

That loop gives you a sneak peek at the size of the field. You might even spot a few lost souls still looking for their way out.

Rides are unlimited with general admission, so nobody has to ration their turns. Trains depart about every 20 minutes, weather permitting, which makes it easy to hop on again later.

I’d use the train as a built-in rest stop. Little legs get tired fast on a farm this big, and a seat with a view beats carrying a sleepy six-year-old.

It’s also a great opener for first-timers. One lap shows you the layout of the place, and you’ll have a better plan before tackling the maze on foot.

Race Your Family Down 200 Feet Of Slide

Family rivalries get settled fast on the Super Mega Ride-n-Slide. It’s a 200-foot, dual-lane tube slide built for head-to-head racing, so bragging rights are always on the line.

Riders need to be at least 42 inches tall. Check heights before you promise anyone a turn, because tears at the measuring sign are no one’s favorite memory.

Once the slide champion is crowned, the giant jumping pillows are ready for a bounce break. Bungee trampolines send jumpers even higher for anyone who wants a little extra air.

Climbers can test their grip on the rock wall nearby. It’s a nice change of pace for kids who’d rather go up than down.

All of these attractions come with the general admission wristband. That means a second, third, or tenth slide race doesn’t cost a thing beyond the ticket you already bought.

Honestly, adults might want in on the action too. Nothing says grown-up dignity quite like losing a tube race to your nine-year-old in front of strangers.

Treehouses, Dinosaurs, And A Cow That Pulls A Train

Dinosaurs on a farm? Sure, why not. Dinosaur Discovery gives young explorers a prehistoric detour right in the middle of all that autumn scenery.

Just as tempting is Treehouse Village, a series of interconnected treehouses. Kids can scramble from one to the next like they own the whole neighborhood.

The Adventure Playground keeps things moving with rope nets, tic-tac-toe, checkers, and a music area. It’s the kind of spot where parents can catch their breath while kids stay busy.

Pedal tractors and pedal carts let future farmers put in some leg work. Over in the pumpkin patch area, the Kids Cow Train Ride stands out as a crowd favorite with plenty of charm.

Duck races add a splash of friendly competition, and the corn pit gives little ones a sandbox made of kernels. A wagon ride rounds things out for anyone ready to sit and roll.

The sheer variety here is impressive. Kids bounce from one activity to the next, and parents get a full day out of one ticket without hearing “I’m bored.”

Pick A Pumpkin, Then Go Digging For Treasure

Thousands of pumpkins show up every October. The treasured Pumpkin Patch at Kersey Valley Maize Adventure stocks both pie pumpkins and Jacks, so bakers and carvers both leave happy.

Variety is the fun part. Pumpkins come in different shapes, colors, and sizes, which makes picking the perfect one a serious family debate.

Plan your budget ahead of time. Entry to the patch is included, but the pumpkins themselves are a separate purchase from general admission.

Timing matters too. The patch opens in October, so an early visit in late September might mean more maze and fewer pumpkins.

Once the porch decor is chosen, rock hounds can try gem mining. Guests sift for gemstones or fossils, and there’s a separate fossil dig for anyone who prefers ancient finds.

Both dig activities are sold separately. Still, I can’t imagine a kid turning down a chance to walk away with a pocketful of treasure and a pumpkin under each arm.

My tip is to save pumpkin picking for last. Nobody wants to haul a heavy Jack through a slide line.

Lunch Comes With A Side Of Wild West

Hunger hits hard after a few laps around a cornfield. The park’s Wild West-themed grub house steps in with a lunch menu built for people who’d rather eat than sit around too long.

The lineup covers the classics. Hot dogs, corn dogs, chicken tenders, grilled cheese, and fried chicken sandwiches all make an appearance.

Walking tacos are a smart pick for anyone who plans to keep moving. Nachos and cheese, plus soft pretzels, work well for sharing around the table.

Then come the fun extras. Funnel cakes and fried Oreos are on the menu, and drinks come from the Pepsi lineup.

Funnel cake fans have another option too. A dedicated Funnel Cake Shop sits on the midway, so a powdered-sugar mustache is never far away.

I’d probably grab a corn dog first and save room for something sweet later. Keep in mind that the park prefers cashless payments, so have a card ready before you order.

Fuel up well. That maze isn’t getting any shorter.

Save Room For Cider Donuts And Two Dozen Kinds Of Fudge

Apple cider donuts sold by the dozen. That’s a commitment, and I fully support it.

The Apple Cider Donut Shop serves them freshly made and hot. Caramel Apple Cider Sundaes and slushie apple cider, served hot or cold, round out the menu with water and coffee.

Coffee lovers have a few paths to choose from. A specialty coffee station has offered pumpkin spice lattes and iced coffee, and a separate café pours espresso, lattes, and iced brews from ethically sourced beans.

Over at the fudge shop, 24 kinds of homemade fudge fill the case. Choosing just one flavor feels almost unfair, so bring a decisive friend.

The Snack Shack is known for caramel kettle corn and lemonade maze coolers. Both seem tailor-made for snacking on the walk between attractions.

Snow Drifts Shaved Ice Shop adds a self-serve station with 10 flavors. Tigers Blood, Wedding Cake, Blue Cotton Candy, and Green Apple are just a few of the options.

Good luck leaving without a sugar rush. Honestly, why would you even try?

Weekends are when the magic happens. Kersey Valley Maize Adventure opens on Saturdays and Sundays during its fall season, with Saturdays starting at 11 a.m. and Sundays at 1 p.m.

The 2026 season wrapped up in late October, so start planning now for next fall. The maze typically opens in late September and runs through October, so check the official schedule once dates are announced.

Set your GPS for 6948 Cecil Farm Rd, Archdale, NC 27263. The farm sits just outside Greensboro, which makes it an easy trip for families across central North Carolina.

Bring cash for parking, since parking has been cash only. Inside the park, things go cashless, though a cash-to-gift-card option is available at Gotcha Covered.

Plan for plenty of walking, and bring along the leashed pup if you’d like. Dogs are welcome in the maze, and watering stations keep them happy.

Loved your visit? Kersey Valley is a family-owned adventure park that also hosts Spookywoods and Kersey Valley Christmas, plus ziplining, laser tag, and escape rooms.

That’s a lot of reasons to come back to this North Carolina farm. The corn maze just happens to be the best first one.
