Here’s a free, educational event that will be held at the Smithsonian’s Natural History Museum in Washington DC on Sept 5.
Jennifer Swanson, award-winning author of 50+ books for children, will be hosting a story time on Friday, September 5th centered around her latest book, The Atlas Obscura Explorer’s Guide to Inventing the World.
Attendees will be invited to explore invention-related play with folks from the Natural History Museum, National Zoo, and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden. Inventions featured in the book such as the microscope, paper, and the printing press will be available for kids to explore in-person. This hands-on play will help children learn about these inventions and how they impact our world today!
With the recent cuts to the Institute of Museum and Library Services, free educational children’s events are more important now than ever! Would you like to feature this event? I can offer an interview with the author about the importance of educational programming and museum services for children.
