Winter is arguably the most exciting time for families to Visit Park City, Utah

For starters, there are the two ski mountains that flank either side of the town ‘s historic Main Street. Deer Valley Resort is doubling in size, and skiers will find new trails and lifts to experience in 2026. Park City Mountain has a lift directly from the town’s main street and a new gondola has been installed in Canyons Village.

And it’s the perfect time to visit the Utah Olympic Park, with the 2026 Winter Olympic games taking place in February in Italy. Park City guests can even ride the Comet bobsled on the track that was used in the 2002 Olympic games in Utah.

Snow tubing – Lifts take you back to the top of the tubing lanes so there’s no work getting back to the top. And most lanes are lit, so tubing is a great evening activity. Woodward Park City offers the longest groomed tubing lanes in Utah and two moving carpets make it easy for everyone.

Horse-drawn sleigh rides – Enjoy the winter beauty from a horse drawn sleigh as several Park City outfitters provide this peaceful experience. There are sleigh rides to dinner on Park City Mountain at Snowed Inn complete with music and a western-style meal. Think Utah trout, Braised Beef Short Ribs among the choices. Dog Sledding – Each of the dog sledding companies in the Park City area has teams of beautiful huskies, other arctic breeds and some rescue dogs led by professional racers from around the world.

Snowmobiling – Experience the powder bowls in the Wasatch and Uinta mountains beyond the ski resorts. Snowmobiling is often done in out-of-bounds terrain which is why it is good to book a guided trip if you are new to the sport or the area.

Snow shoeing and Cross-Country Skiing – Park City offers a wide variety of options from groomed trails to more rustic touring trails in nearby mountains. Dress in layers and opt for merino wool or synthetic materials that will wick the moisture from your skin and help regulate your temperature. Fat-tire biking Park City is famous for mountain biking with 400+ miles of maintained trails. In the winter, you can explore the terrain on a fat-tire bike. The oversized tires create a smooth pedaling experience. Maske sure to wear water resistant hiking shoes or boots! There are places you can rent bikes and go on your own or with guides.  

Olympic Park bobsled Utah Olympic Park was built for the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Games and continues as a global training ground for competitors. A professional pilot will take passengers on this fast ride down the Salt Lake 2002 Winter Games Sliding Track that was home to bobsled, skeleton and luge events and has continued to host World Cub and World Championship events. You must be 13 and at least 100 pounds to ride.

Champions Club game room at the Stein Eriksen Lodge in Deer Valley is a 3,500-square-foot entertainment center where you can share a pizza, wings or nachos while playing high-tech or old school games together including billiards, arcade games, and the chance to root for your favorite teams on big screens.
