The B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore has become nationally-renowned for its showcase of Black History through the railroad industry, featuring two updated exhibits on the Underground Railroad and segregation that can be viewed by those in Baltimore or anywhere around the world.

For the Underground Railroad, the museum has launched a new education campaign at https://undergroundrailroadlegacy.org/ that features videos, curriculum, and interactive features for teacher to educate students. The exhibit – both online and in the Museum – features an original song from Baltimore artist Wordsmith that uses lyrics to entertainingly describe history to students.

The Museum also has a guided tour for visitors, From Slavery to Civil Rights: The African American Railroading Legacy, that focuses specifically on the journey of Black Americans through the years and their relationship to the railroad industry. In particular, the Museum’s “Segregation Car” exhibit has been re-opened after received a grant to upgrade the car and provide more details and artifacts about the history of segregation on the railroads.
