I love traveling with my kids. I’m lucky because they’ve inherited the same travel bug that both my husband and I have. There’s no place that they won’t go or see. It doesn’t matter if I take them to Walt Disney World or hiking in Colorado, they treat every trip like it’s an epic adventure.
At the same time though, I do enjoy traveling with my girlfriends or just by myself. I can pack in two minutes flat, grab my coffee to go and not worry about the hustle and bustle that usually comes with family travel at airports during the peak of seasons. That’s why when I was given the opportunity to visit the Hacienda Encantada in Los Cabos, Mexico, I didn’t flinch. I knew that with or without my family, this would be a much-needed getaway to relax right before the school year kicks off again. And I wasn’t wrong at all. I didn’t think it was possible, but the property managed to de-stress me for the four days I was there.
The Hacienda Encantada Resort & Residences doesn’t really need an introduction. Their breathtaking views speak for itself. The property is a beachfront and cliff top hacienda-style resort, located along Millionaire’s Row in stunning Los Cabos. Simply put, the Hacienda Encantada Resort & Spa doesn’t feel like a getaway with your girlfriends. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The property is so inviting that it does feel like your home away from home. That’s because the resort offers luxurious 3,131 square foot villas that feature three bedrooms, full kitchens, dining areas, living rooms with sofa beds, and 4.5 baths. In other words, you’ve got all the comforts of home.
Yet, the entire time I couldn’t help but think that the resort was not only a great place to escape from the everyday work and family juggle, but also a great place for small children, too. It’s packaged so nicely that you can feel like your worlds away from your everyday work routine but at the same time don’t feel bothered by having energetic and enthusiastic kids nearby you. There’s an adults-only infinity pool and a separate family-friendly pool with several kid-approved games and activities. Both are equally enticing for both group travelers and families.
Plus, you see a touch of Baja California al throughout the resort. Hand-carved furnishings and exotic decorative accents are everywhere, reminding you that yes, you’re not really at home even though it sure does feel like it. Also, Las Marias for breakfast every morning is a must.
In addition, the Hacienda Encantada offers complimentary transpiration to and from your villa as well as a shuttle to the Golden Zone in the downtown area. There you can sample different restaurants that are included in their all-inclusive dining packages, which gives you the freedom to taste all the flavors of the Baja. Also, don’t forget to take a boat ride to The Arch of Cabo San Lucas, a magnificent natural rock formation at the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California. It’s also where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean.
The Hacienda Encantada will honestly make you feel like you don’t want to go home. But if you must (and eventually we all do) there’s always the great hope and possibility that you’ll come back. It’s a great feeling knowing that you’ve got two places you can call your home – even if your kids are not there. * wink *
