On Saturday, March 23, City Park Conservancy in New Orleans LA hosts the 75th-annual Big Bass Fishing Rodeo. It’s the oldest freshwater rodeo in the country!

The Big Bass Rodeo is a catch-and-release fishing tournament for competitors targeting the largest bass.

In addition to the main, bank-fishing event guests can participate in the following:

  • Battle for the Bass – Student fishing competition for grades 7-12
  • Boats on the Bayou – Bayou St. John fishing competition for kayakers and other non-motorized vessels
  • Cichlid + Bream Trim – Teams of five compete for heaviest 15 stringer of bream, cichilds, and perch
  • Fishtival – Free event featuring DJ, raffle, a host of educational exhibitors, and new and used fishing gear for sale at great prices

Fishing has been popular in City Park since the turn of the century, and the Big Bass Rodeo offers our community a unique opportunity to get outdoors, enjoy nature, and experience a different side of the Park! More info here
