Monsters, beasts and all kinds of creative creatures will unite on August 10, 2023 from 4-9 pm in Denver’s Cheesman Park Pavilion. It’s the kick-off of Meow Wolf’s epic clash of the costumes, Monster Battle. It’s a dance-off, it’s a battle, it’s a Monster Battle!
Denverites will twist, shout and dance with their claws out to the tunes of Meow Wolf’s DJ Snaggy and all you need to do is show up and prepare to get down. No tickets, no RSVP’s, no lines – just you, the ghouls and your best dance moves.
The ancient origins of Monster Battle began in 2008 when a colorful assembly of monsters exploded into a spontaneous dance-off in The Plaza in Santa Fe, NM. This year, Denver’s multi-verse of monsters will continue the tradition with community members of all styles, mysteries and behemoths ready to ramp up the kitsch in Cheesman Park.
Want some professional help creating a costume especially ghastly? Join Convergence Station’s professional monster-maker Kate Major for a family-friendly monster building workshop at Factory Fashion in the Stanley Marketplace on Saturday, August 5 from 2pm-5pm.
Materials like cardboard, bubble wrap, packing materials, yarn, pipe cleaners, paint and glue will be provided. Bring your monster to life with recycled materials for masks, heads, hands and feet in preparation for the battle of the beasts at the Cheesman Park Pavilion.
