Spring is almost in full bloom and soon the capital city of Olympia WA will be adorned with a breathtaking display of cherry blossoms on the Capitol Campus.

The campus features 75 different types of trees and in February 2023, the Capitol Campus became an internationally accredited arboretum. The large grove of 40 Yoshino Flowering Cherry trees were donated 40 years ago in 1984 by Mitsuo Mutai, and 23 other Kwanzan Cherry trees line ‘Cherry Lane.’

Cherry blossoms not only showcase nature’s beauty but also the renewal that spring brings to the Pacific Northwest. While they are beautiful, they only last a few weeks, so don’t miss out! If visitors are interested in learning more, Botanical tours are offered by appointment only and springtime is truly the best time.
